Previous Employment History - Step 1 of 8

Norton Energy Drilling will use job-related criteria to select qualified employees who can perform the essential functions of the job. Norton Energy Drilling has the right and obligation to hire the best applicant for the available job.


Out of business necessity, and safety, it is a bonafide occupational qualification that all rig employees meet the physical requirements we have stated.


Minimal Essential Requirements and Physical Qualifications to be considered for employment with Norton Energy Drilling are:



  • For your safety, rig employees cannot weigh more than 310 pounds. This is due to the manufacturer's restrictions on our fall protection.

  • Pass physical fit exam and a human performance evaluation, which is consistent with the physical requirements of the job.

  • Physically able to perform various job functions (noted below) due to the small number (4 to 5) crew members doing a large volume of work.

    • Work 12-hour shifts

    • Perform duties requiring vertical lifting up to 100 lbs and horizontal pushing and pulling up to 125 lbs.

    • Perform duties in inclement weather (extreme heat and cold),

    • Derrickman must be able to climb the derrick and not be afraid to work at heights up to 150 feet above the rig floor for extended periods of time.


  • Our company has a policy requiring all employees to be able to communicate in English (speak, read, and write). This is a matter of safety for all rig employees.

  • You must pass a background check. A felony conviction will not always keep you from being considered, but if you lie on your application about having a felony, you will not be considered.

  • You must pass a hair follicle. We take body hair from all applicants, which means results will go back 90 days. If you have taken illegal drugs in the last 90 days, please don’t waste our time, or yours.

  • Every employee must have an account that can receive a payroll deposit electronically and have a valid email account.

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
